Hello Again from the Hughes Gang!

With summer upon us the boys broke out their water table over this beautiful Memorial Day weekend. As you can tell they are having the best time!

Madyson has been doing a great job in first grade with only 15 more school days left this year. She has grown so much in her reading, writing, and math. Last month she won an award at school for awesome Citizenship. She was honored at the school awards assembly. Way to go Madyson!

The boys got a choo-choo wagon for their birthday. It is great we use it all the time.

The triplets turned one on the 10th of May. It is hard to believe that we survived the first year. We are so lucky and the boys are so super healthy. The weights are amazing. At birth the boys were as follows:

  • Austin 3 lbs. 2 oz.
  • Blake 3 lbs. 130z.
  • Carter 3 lbs. 9oz.

At their one year check up they have grown so well:

  • Austin 19 lbs. 2oz.
  • Blake 21 lbs. 6oz.
  • Carter 23 lbs. 2 oz.

The have not eaten us out of house and home yet, but they are all ready to start regular milk and food. Thank you food gods! Costco has become our weekly shopping spot and the regular grocery store is a rare visit.

Madyson's Olden Days outfit!

So sorry for not updating this in so long. We have had a busy few months in the Hughes house hold. First thing was we sold our home in Irvine in December and bought a new house in Foothill Ranch. Moving a family of 6 and living with family for a few weeks in between can keep you busy. Not to mention we celebrated Christmas, New Years, my birthday, and the boys had their first colds during this time. Let's just say life was even busier than normal if that is possible.

Madyson-We have been our new house for about three months now and are pretty settled in now. Madyson has already made a new best friend with our neighbor that has a window directly across for hers. We have found them talking through the windows about play dates, etc. She is so lucky to already have new friends. Not that this is a shock to anyone. She has also started softball again and is pitching this year. Of course James is coaching and keeps our entire family very busy. She only has a few more months of first grade and is reading like a champ. We are so proud of the great job she does in school and being the best big sister ever.

Triplets-Well let's just say there have been many changes for the boys over the past few month. They just turned 10 months last week. All eating us out of house and home. Finally eating about two meals a day of baby food and formula. We can't wait until they can drink regular milk. They are all still growing leaps and bounds. Austin is 18 lbs, Blake is 20 lbs, and Carter is 22 lbs. 8 oz. The funny thing is that Carter is still the tank, but Blake eats the best with the regular food.

There little personalities are forming left and right. The boys are in playgroups with other sets of multiples and even went to one of their friends first birthday parties last month. I have joined Stroller Strides, which allows mommy to get some type of workout in with the boys included. It is also a fun way for the boys to get to know their Foothill Ranch neighbors. Blake is crawling all over the place and pulling himself up on everything. Carter likes to do the backward crawl. Austin is up on all fours ready to move somewhere. No one has any teeth yet, but I am sure they will be showing up soon. Baby jail is a life saver to me, since I would not be able to put the boys down anywhere with out it. We get a little more adventurous each week with new outings and exploring.

Our family is doing well and glad to say we have almost survived the first year of triplets. Madyson is a great big sister. The grandparents help in more ways then we can ever know. James and I are hanging in there and enjoying this journey together. Oh yes Maui is still here and loves her new huge backyard. She does get to join in on walks from time to time. Wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Six Months!!!!

Carter
Blake

Austin

Well the Hughes boys are now officially six months old. They all received their 6 month shots yesterday that included a H1N1 shot and flu shot, which put each of them at 5 shots each. This is a total of 15 shots in one day. Thank goodness everyone survived without much fussing and slept well. All the boys are growing well and eating like horses. Their weights are as follows: Austin 14 lbs. 14 oz., Blake 16 lbs. 2 oz, and Carter 18 lbs. 2 oz. Needless to say the doctor is so happy with their progress that their original weights of 3 lbs each is a blur these days. We are so lucky that no one has had a cold or flu yet, so we are crossing our fingers that our luck continues.

Madyson just finished soccer this past week with another great season of friends and scoring goals. James did a great job of coaching the Purple Cheetahs. Looks like we will be getting ready for softball season to begin in the spring and Coach James will be returning again this year with a few more cheerleaders in the stands. It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week and we have so much to be thankful for these days. We would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday. Stay tuned for more updates on the Hughes gang in December.

October 2009

Well we have such a crazy month with school being back in the swing of things and soccer starting. Madyson is doing so well again this year with soccer and James is coaching of course. She scores at least one if not several goals every game. Madyson has also been doing so well with 1st grade. It is so amazing to listen to her read and write sentences. James and I have to watch ourselves when we say certain things or words. She is very smart and catches on quickly. This month she was able to go to Disneyland's trick or treating with us and her friend. She is a High School Musical Cheerleader. It seems like she has the cheer gene just like her mom.

James and I celebrated our 6th anniversary this month. Wow how things have changed in the past six years. One fun fact is that we became a family of 6 the year we celebrates our 6th anniversary. My mom watched the kids for a weekend, so that we could go to San Luis for a little one tasting. We had a great time and came back with way to many new vinos.

The triplets are growing leaps and bounds. They turned 5 months on the 10th of this month and have tons of new tricks. The boys are laughing and giggling like crazy. Carter is definitely the ticklish one of the group. It is so fun to watch them respond to each other and all of us now. They are sleeping from about 11 pm to 6:30 or 7 am. We call this pretty close to a full night sleep around here. They have also starting eating cereal and fruits about once a day. Sweet potatoes and pears seem to be group favorites. We are going to keep trying different foods to make sure we become good eaters!!!

We have definitely enjoyed the pumpkin patch this fall and look forward to the upcoming holidays. Overall our family is so lucky to have everyone be happy and healthy. Stay tuned for more updates on the Hughes gang!!!

Recap of August

Oh my goodness have we been a busy bunch of Hughes' this past month. Sorry it has taken me so long to update everyone, but you will understand once you hear about our past month. First we started off with a great trip to San Diego with Nonna (my mom.) She was so kind as to let us go to the condo in Pacific Beach with her for a week. This was very daring on our part because we took the entire family. Yes this included the triplets. It only took two cars, three car seats, one triple stroller, one pack and play, one swing, one bouncer, one case of formula, one case of water, twenty four bottles, nine pacifiers, three sleep positioners, three boppies, two diaper bags, two hundred forty-two diapers, two bags of wipes, fifteen outfits, one bath tub, three babies, and this doesn't even count anything for Madyson or us. Needless to say we survived and we had a great time. We also realized it is possible to travel with triplets.

Next we have been getting ready for school going back in September. My old school has moved to a new location in Irvine and is brand new. While this is wonderful there is a ton of unpacking and reorganizing going on with the move. I am also sharing a contract this year to work part-time, so that I can be home with the boys a few days a week. So while we have been getting ready for school, we also interviewed for a nanny to watch the boys. We had a few glitches, but now have found a wonderful lady to watch the boys the days I am working. James has been super busy with work and coaching Madyson's soccer team again this year. He is so proud of his Purple Cheetahs. There first game is this Saturday and the girls can't wait. Madyson starts school on Thursday, September 10th and will be in 1st grade. It is hard to believe she is already in 1st grade and will be turning 7 in September. The boys will also be 4 months old on the 10th of September.

They are definitely each developing their personalities and becoming individuals. Austin is the one that wants attention and wants it now. If he starts to cry it is because he wants to be held. The only problem is I don't think he knows that he is a triplet. Being held all the time may not work all the time. We do our best to give them each cuddle time. Blake is Mr. Mellow. He will just hang out and watch things and take in everything around him. He will definitely be the calm one of the group. Then there is Carter the gentle giant as my mom calls him. He is an efficient eater and goes right back to sleep after he eats. He very rarely crys unless you are not making his bottle fast enough. All of the boys are becoming very interactive and laughing and making cute baby noises all the time. They are so much fun and such awesome babies.

More to come in September!!!

Happy 4th of July!

Our family had a great 4th of July that started with a broken refrigerator that had to be fixed of course. With three babies in the house being without a fridge is not an option. It was fun that Madyson, my mom, and I got to go to the HB parade. Thanks to Papa, Nana, and Daddy watching the boys for a little bit. We then finished the day with a nice family bbq at our house. These days most everyone comes over to our house since it is not as easy for us to get the whole gang out.

Many of you have asked how are household has changed since the boys arrived. Here are a few pictures of just the bottles, formula, and dishwasher at our house now. Let's just say I spend most of my time in the kitchen!!!!

Sometimes two of the babies need to comforted at the same time. This is one of the joys and crazy times of having multiples!!!!

Happy Father's Day to James with his first father's day with four children. Here are the boys with their Daddy.

June 19th, 2009-The boys have been home for a week!

We are glad to say the boys have been home for a little over a week. They are all growing and thriving in the Hughes household. Big sister Madyson is a great help and has become the little mommy around our house. She is out of school as of yesterday, so it is officially summer. I have added some pictures of the boys coming home from the hospital. There are also some pictures of their home photo shoot by mom and dad Hughes in their matching blue outfits. The picture of the three boys in the swings and bouncers is part of how are house looks now a days. This is how James managed to keep them all calm while cooking breakfast one morning. The next big trial will be next week when James goes back to work and Madyson and I need to manage the boys by ourselves.
At their doctors appointment this past Monday all the boys had grown a bit since leaving the hospital. Carter is still the big boy now weighing in at 6 lbs 3 oz. Austin is not far behind at 5 lbs 13 oz. Blake is still holding his own at 5 lbs 9 oz. They continue eating about every three hours and taking a little bit more each time. We are so very lucky to have such happy, healthy boys.
